PRIVACY POLICY

1. WHAT WE COLLECT

To use HandyNow we collect: your name, phone number, and optionally your email; your address(es) for service delivery; for Pros, your NIN and a government-issued ID for identity verification; and booking, payment, and messaging history within the platform.

2. HOW WE USE IT

We use your information to operate the marketplace — matching you with Pros or jobs, processing payments through Paystack, sending booking-related notifications by SMS and email, and verifying provider identity for the safety of all users. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. SENSITIVE IDENTITY DOCUMENTS

NIN numbers are encrypted at rest in our database. ID documents are stored in access-controlled cloud storage, viewable only by our verification team during the review process. We retain these only as long as needed for verification and legal compliance.

4. WHO WE SHARE INFORMATION WITH

We share the minimum necessary information with: Paystack (to process payments), Termii (to deliver SMS verification codes), and between a customer and their matched Pro (name, phone, and job address — only once a booking is confirmed, never before).

5. LOCATION DATA

If you use the panic/emergency alert feature, we may request your device's location at that moment to share with our safety team. We do not track your location at any other time.

6. YOUR RIGHTS

You can review and update most of your information from your account settings at any time. To request deletion of your account or data, contact us — note that we may need to retain certain transaction records for legal and accounting purposes even after account deletion.

7. DATA SECURITY

We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest, and restrict access to sensitive information to staff who need it to do their jobs.

8. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll note the date of the most recent update at the top of this page.
